Joosed mIRC 1.3.29 released

This update is imperative for users of mIRC 6.33. mIRC 6.34 was released to address issues with the way it executes scripts, which could cause undesirable results. 1.3.29 was released to increase compability, which now offers a fallback method for text input so future mIRC updates still continue to work without requiring an update for new versions.

Only one feature was added for Windows Vista users: the ability to display your Windows Experience Index.

The updater was also updated to address issues and offer “version activated” updates. This means new updates will be for specific versions of the script. For example, 1.3.30 is released and is only activated for 1.3.29 users. This means any other versions used will not be offered the update. This helps decrease problems that could arise during updates for older versions that are known to have issues.

(Updated) Joosed mIRC 1.3.28 Released

Another mIRC release, and another Joosed update. Compatibility is increased for mIRC 6.33, the updater is now fixed and should install future updates that update files in use without requiring a restart or some sort of workaround, and some other bugs were fixed, namely issues with highlighting along with a new feature to make the mIRC Taskbar button flash when your nick is mentioned.

Joosed mIRC 1.3.x also turns 1 today, along with its scripter turning 25. So, Happy Birthday me!

Note: This update is only available through the installer due to issues with the updater in 1.3.27.

UPDATE: The installer is now fixed with the correct mIRC version.

How to configure WMPmIRC Plugin for Joosed mIRC

This plugin lets you display what you are playing in Windows Media Player in mIRC. I will show you how to configure it to work with 1.3.27 of Joosed mIRC. Don’t worry. It’s not too hard.

Firstly, download WMPmIRC Plugin for Windows Media Player. It works with the latest version of WMP and is compatible with Windows Vista.

After installing it, make sure Joosed mIRC is running and open Windows Media Player. Under the “Now Playing” tab, select “Plugins” then “Options”.

Then, under “Categories”, select “Background” and also select “WMPmIRC Plugin” in the “Background:” box to your right. Click “Properties” to configure the plugin.

In the preceding dialog, put “/mp3.msg %K14[%k15WMP%k14] %k15: %k11%A %k14- %k11%S” without the quotes in the “mIRC message:” box. Now, click “Apply” and start playing some music.

You will now be able to tell all your IRC friends what your listening to or watching*!

Joosed mIRC 1.3.27 Released

After a long wait, 1.3.27 is finally out! Along with a new and improved installer, many bug fixes and a few new features were added. It’s highly recommened that you install this update, since many bugs that users complained about are fixed.

In the meantime, 1.3.28 will be released shortly in a week or so that will only contain small bug fixes found in 1.3.27.

Improvements to the installer

In the midst of working at my job, and attempts to work on the new TechJoose site, I have made several improvements to the scripts installer.

• Added an uninstaller
• Improved Windows Vista compatibility (UAC Aware)
• Added uninstall info to Add/Remove Programs
• Added option to put icon on the Desktop
• Added option to add icon in the StartMenu
• Changed the scripts default install directory to “%APPDATA%\Joosed IRC”
• Added license info
• Fixed several install bugs

The default install directory was changed to allow for other scripts to be installed and not conflict with Joosed IRC. This means Joosed IRC will no longer use “%APPDATA%\mIRC”.

Vista users will no longer get the message, “This program might not have installed correctly.” This is because the installer is fully UAC aware. Meaning, it explicitly tells Vista what to run the installer as. In this installers case, it’ll be told to run as Admin.

These changes will be included in Joosed IRC 1.3.27. More info on that will be coming soon.

‘Til then, keep the suggestions rollin’ in and I’ll do my best to include them in the next update.

Joosed IRC 1.3.26 Released

With the recent release of mIRC 6.31, 1.3.26 is now available for compatibility with 6.31. Only a bug or two was fixed for this release. The installer is now x64 compatible, meaning the script should install properly.

Since this release has gotten stable, I will soon begin work on 1.4 which will include a revamped updater to allow for incremental updates and give details about each one. I will make a post sometime soon to elaborate more on what I have planned for 1.4.

In the meantime, 1.4 will not be available for a while as I have begun to work on a php based framework for the main site: www.techjoose.net.

Joosed Irc 1.3.23 Released (Update)

Yet another bug fix release for Joosed Irc. Random/Continuous playing of mp3’s should work now, updater no longer floods if there is 404 (Not found), along with the updater working again, these are just a few of the short list of bugs fixed.

Since the updater is working now, future updates will be offered through the scripts updater along with the installer just in case of a failure.

The installer should now install the mirc settings on a clean install. The next version should be able to detect if mirc is running, and more.

Joosed Irc 1.3.22 Released

This is a pure bug-fix release. All bugs encountered in the last release should be fix among many others.

The installer has also been improved. It’ll now download mIRC 6.3 if the version installed isn’t up-to-date or if you don’t have mIRC installed. It will also look for existing settings from previous versions of the script.

Joosed Irc 1.3.21 Released

This release is a stability and performance release. Several small bugs were fixed that I can’t remember. Mp3 play list rebuilding should be twice as fast now. I have changed some things to use full paths. This could cause issues if people are installing into a directory with spaces in it. I didn’t have time to go through and test the script thoroughly to be sure no problems would arise. From what I over viewed, there shouldn’t be any issues.

Current users will NOT be able to use the scripts updater to update to this version, until further notice.

I’ve also switched to a new installer that won’t overwrite configuration files if they already exist. Basically, an offline updater and a full installer rolled into one. Unfortunately, I’m not longer including mIRC with the installer. mIRC 6.3 is required to run the script since some features depend on it. Also, the installer depends the Application Data directory of your Windows install just as mIRC 6.3 does.

Joosed 1.3.20 Released

Joosed 1.3.20 was released to fix issues with dcc chat, talker, mp3 playlist, and more. Also, added missing files from 1.3.19.

For Windows Vista users and people who have issues updating can now download the offline updater. All of your settings will be retained and left alone. This only updates the nessessary files.
